Anti-Aging In Your 40s
Anti-Aging Routine for 40s
Things are really starting to show up in this age group, particularly if you haven’t been proactive. Women in their 40s are busy taking care of their families, and often find it difficult to find time for themselves. Sun spots have appeared, expression lines are ingrained and “you look tired” is becoming a frequently heard comment. Changes to the underlying structure of the skin are really starting to become noticeable at this age, making it a slippery slope of both fixing existing damage and trying to prevent what’s to inevitably come.
Neuromodulators (Botox, Dysport, Daxxify, Jeuveau )– Just like in your 30s, in your 40s you should visit your physician every 3-4 month to treat fine lines and wrinkles. Try getting creative with the areas you treat, like adding in around the mouth for “smokers lines”.
Fillers – Regardless of decade, fillers will now be a staple in your antiaging routine. Keep up with fillers 2-3 times per year for facial symmetry and volume loss. Your 40s is a great time to add in fillers for the jawline to bring back your youthful facial structure.
Halo Pro – The Halo Pro uses two different wavelengths, one ablative and one non-ablative. This combination of wavelengths is appropriate for collagen stimulation, uneven or dull texture, pore size and fine lines. After treatment you can expect to have a week of downtime. Fraxel – A more intensive version of the Clear + Brilliant laser, Fraxel is great for pigmentation, pre-cancers, collagen stimulation and pore size. A patient would choose this over the Halo Pro if pigmentation was a main concern. Be prepared for a full week of downtime with some swelling.
*Dr. Cox recommends patients get one intensive laser treatment every 12-18 months like the Fraxel or Halo Pro, then maintain those results with less aggressive treatments, like the Clear + Brilliant or Radiofrequency Microneedling.
RF Microneedling + CoolPeel – The RF Microneedling uses 36 gold-tipped needles to deliver results at 31 different depths in the skin. This treatment stimulates collagen, improves fine lines and helps with skin laxity. The CoolPeel is a laser that uses CO2 technology to deliver an ablative, superficial treatment. When used at the same time, these two treatments work to restore the skin both in the deeper layers, and on the surface.
