ScalpStim is a multi-modality treatment for hair restoration that targets both hair density (how much hair you have) and hair quality (the thickness and strength of each strand). Unlike single-step approaches, ScalpStim combines complementary technologies in one session: a non-ablative fractional laser, scalp-delivered growth factors, and red light therapy. Together, these three steps work on the follicle from multiple angles.
The treatment begins with a fractional laser that creates controlled microscopic treatment zones in the scalp. These tiny channels do two important things: they wake up dormant hair follicles by triggering the body’s natural wound-healing response, and they allow growth factors to penetrate deeper into the scalp where they can have the greatest effect. The laser also activates signaling pathways within the follicle that help push hair follicles back into the active growth phase. Immediately after the laser, growth factors are applied directly to the scalp. We use either KeraFactor MD, a medical-grade topical serum containing bioidentical growth factors and peptides that mimic the body’s natural hair-growth signals, or PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma) drawn from your own blood. The treatment finishes with red light therapy, which further stimulates follicle activity and activates the nanofluorosome delivery system in KeraFactor, amplifying its effect on the follicle.
ScalpStim is performed in-office and takes about an hour. There is no topical numbing required, and most patients describe the laser as a warm, prickly sensation. Pronox (laughing gas) is available if needed for comfort. ScalpStim is appropriate for patients with male and female pattern hair loss, thinning hair, and decreased hair quality, and works well alongside prescription hair-loss therapies. It is not a treatment for scarring hair loss or alopecia areata.
For optimal results we recommend a series of 4 to 6 treatments spaced 4 to 6 weeks apart, followed by maintenance treatments to sustain results.
