Scars (Surgical, Traumatic, MOHs)

Area of Concern

01

Types of Scars we Treat

Scars can develop from a wide range of injuries, procedures, and skin conditions, and often vary in appearance and texture. Common types we treat include acne scars, surgical scars, and scars following procedures such as MOHs surgery. We also address traumatic scars from cuts or injuries, burn scars, and scars related to inflammation or poor wound healing. Scars may appear raised, depressed, discolored, or tight, and each type requires a tailored approach based on its unique characteristics.

What Causes a Scar to Form?

Scars form as part of the skin’s natural healing process following injury, surgery, or inflammation. When collagen production is disrupted, either producing too much or too little, the skin heals unevenly and creates visible changes in texture and appearance. The final result depends on the type of injury, how the body repairs the tissue, and individual healing tendencies, which is why scars can vary so widely between patients.

Treatment

Treating scars at Aesthetic Solutions

Treatment for scars focuses on improving texture, color, and overall skin quality by remodeling collagen and addressing underlying structural changes.

Depending on the scar type, treatments may include CO2, Fraxel, V-Beam, Alexandrite Laser, PicoSure Pro, Clear + Brilliant, Microneedling, RF Microneedling or subcision. Injectable therapies like steroid injections, dermal fillers and neuromodulators may also be used to reduce hypertrophy, restore volume or release tension to improve the healing process respectively.

Because scars vary significantly in depth, cause, and behavior, combination approaches are often used to achieve the most meaningful improvement. Treatment plans are individualized based on scar type, location, and patient goals.
