What is Rosacea?

Rosacea is a chronic inflammatory skin condition that most commonly affects the central face, including the cheeks, nose, chin, and forehead. It often presents with persistent redness, flushing, visible blood vessels, and sometimes acne like bumps. Symptoms can fluctuate over time, with periods of worsening and improvement. Although rosacea is medically manageable, it can be frustrating for patients because it tends to be chronic and influenced by individual triggers. Rosacea is incredible common, affecting an estimated 16 million Americans and over 5% of the global population.

02

What Causes Rosacea?

Rosacea develops from a combination of vascular, inflammatory, and genetic factors that affect the skin of the face. Individuals with rosacea tend to have more reactive blood vessels and heightened inflammatory responses, which can lead to persistent redness and flushing. Environmental triggers such as heat, sun exposure, certain foods, and stress can worsen symptoms.

Because several underlying factors contribute to the condition, rosacea often requires a comprehensive and individualized management approach.

Treating rosacea at Aesthetic Solutions

Treatment for rosacea focuses on reducing inflammation, controlling visible redness, and minimizing triggers that can worsen symptoms. Topical products, oral medications, at-home LED light and in-office lasers or devices may all be used in a treatment plan.  Pulse dye lasers such as V-beam can be highly effective in targeting the underlying blood vessels without damaging surrounding skin.

Because rosacea is a chronic condition with individual triggers, treatment plans are typically personalized and focused on long term management.
