What is Rhinophyma?

Rhinophyma is a progressive, benign skin condition that affects the nose, leading to thickened skin, irregular surface texture, and enlargement. It is considered a subtype of rosacea and develops gradually over time. While medically not dangerous, rhinophyma can become a significant cosmetic and functional concern depending on its severity.

What Causes Rhinophyma?

Rhinophyma develops as a result of chronic inflammation and tissue remodeling, most often in individuals with longstanding rosacea. Treating Rhinophyma at Aesthetic Solutions

At Aesthetic Solutions we use ablative lasers to treat Rhinophyma, as this allows us to laser away the affected tissue while restoring a normal shape to the nose. By delivering energy deep into the skin, we can remove the Rhinophyma while causing minimal trauma to the surrounding healthy tissue.

Laser for Rhinophyma is conducted in a precise, targeted manner. Because of this the downtime is confined to a small area and on average lasts 7-10 days.

Optimal results are seen as the area heals. Patients are typically happy with results one month after treatment, with optimal results at three months. A series of sessions may be recommended based on the severity of the Rhinophyma.
