Cherry angiomas are common, benign vascular growths that appear as small red, purple, or bright cherry colored spots on the skin. They form from clusters of tiny blood vessels and can develop anywhere on the body, though they are most often seen on the trunk, arms, and shoulders. Cherry angiomas are medically harmless but may increase in number over time and are a frequent cosmetic concern. About 50% of adults have at least one cherry angioma after age 30!

What Causes Cherry Angiomas?
Cherry angiomas develop when small blood vessels cluster and proliferate within the skin. Genetics and natural aging processes play the largest role, which is why these lesions often increase in number with time. Although the exact trigger is not always known, hormonal influences and normal vascular changes in the skin are also thought to contribute to their development.

Treating Cherry Angiomas at Aesthetic Solutions
Treatment of cherry angiomas focuses on selectively targeting the small blood vessels that form the lesion while preserving the surrounding skin. The V-beam laser is commonly used for this, as it is designed to treat vascular lesions by delivering energy that is absorbed by the blood within the vessels. This process causes the angioma to collapse and gradually be reabsorbed by the body. Treatment is typically quick and well tolerated, with the number of sessions depending on the size and characteristics of the angioma.
