Dr. Cox was recently elected to the position of Board of Director for the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery (ASDS), the nation’s largest specialty group in dermatology. Dr. Cox will take office at the ASDS Annual Meeting, October 11-14, 2007, in Chicago. Both Dr. Cox and Dr. Finn will give lectures at this upcoming meeting.
Founded in 1970, the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery is the largest specialty organization in the world exclusively representing dermasurgeons, board-certified physicians who are specifically trained to treat the health, function and appearance of the skin and soft tissue with both medically necessary and cosmetic procedures, using surgical and non-surgical methods.

Education and Experience
Dr. Sue Ellen Cox is Associate Clinical Professor in the Department of Dermatology at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Medicine, and Dermatologic Surgeon, Aesthetic Solutions, Chapel Hill, North Carolina. A graduate of New York University, she earned her medical degree from Case Western Reserve University where she was a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society. Dr Cox completed her Residency in Dermatology at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, Texas, and she is now board certified in Dermatology specializing in Surgical and Cosmetic Dermatology. She is one of the nation’s pioneers and experts in botox, fillers and tumescent liposuction and has lectured throughout the country teaching her techniques. Dr Cox, who has hospital privileges at North Carolina Specialty Hospital and the University of North Carolina Hospitals, currently participates in ongoing investigational studies with Allergan, Medicis and Inamed. She has also co-authorized several journal articles and book chapters on laser resurfacing, chemical peeling, tumescent liposuction, and botulinum toxin Type A.
Dr. Cox believes continued medical education and new technology training is of the utmost importance for any physician to stay current with new trends. Dr. Cox and Dr. Finn are established as a Botox© Cosmetic National Physician Training Center since 1999. As a training center, Dr. Cox teaches other physicians how to properly administer Botox®.

Cosmetic Dermatology focusing on facial rejuvenation utilizing Botox® and injectable
fillers, laser resurfacing, chemical peeling. Dr. Cox is a laser specialist and as a pioneer in laser resurfacing, she was one of the first physicians
in the country to perform laser resurfacing in 1994, and trained with
Dr. Richard Fitzpatrick who discovered the laser resurfacing procedure.
Dr. Cox has lectured throughout the country teaching other physicians
her technique.
Dr. Cox is an expert in tumescent liposuction,
the most advanced and safe liposuction procedure available, and continues
to be involved with ongoing research studies investigating the effectiveness
of various liposuction techniques. She is a feature editor for the Journal
Of Dermatologic Surgery and a regular speaker at numerous symposia and
meetings throughout the country, including the American Academy Of Cosmetic
Surgery's World Congress On Liposuction Surgery.
Community
Involvement
Dr. Sue Ellen Cox greatly
believes in gathering as much knowledge and training as possible to best
serve her patients safely with the most satisfying results. Dr. Cox continues
to further her medical education by attending conferences and hands-on
workshops. Dr. Cox holds complimentary seminars several times a year to
introduce new techniques to prospective as well as established patients.
Dr. Cox also participates in the Skin Care Outreach Empowers Survivors
(S.C.O.R.E.S.) program through the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery.
The S.C.O.R.E.S. program provides pro-bono dermatologic surgery services
to victims of domestic violence.
